Girl Becomes Mom at 11 on Her Wedding Day

The day of her wedding was also the day when she gave birth to her daughter. The white wedding attire wasn’t exactly the symbol of innocence for the 11-year-old girl from Bulgaria by name of Kordeza Zhelyazkova.

Kordeza Zhelyazkova

Kordeza’s story is simple and touching: meeting her would-be husband, Jeliazko Dimitrov, 19, on the school playground. Engaging themselves in games and then in sexual games. Preventive measures? Using a condom? They hadn’t even heard these words.

Now Kordeza is the mother of a charming little girl named Violeta, who will probably start going to school when her mother will be finishing it.

WOW!!…Can anyone say pedophile?! That poor little girl…seriously my jaw is on the floor. I understand cultures are different but wow, that guy should be in prison awaiting the death sentence.

  • Navygunner wrote on 24 April, 2010, 3:38

Like everything else on these web sites they didn’t tell the whole story. The age of consent in Bulgaria is 14!! and she lied to him and told him that she was actually 15. Why do people always impart their convictions of morality upon other cultures before they know the whole story.

  • Jessikah wrote on 29 June, 2010, 22:42

To Jai,kumar: You are a very stupid person. How in the hell could a girl getting pregnant at 11 be a ‘good thing’? she had her whole life ahead of her, now she is stuck with a baby because some phucking 19 year old sick phuck couldn’t keep it in his pants. Here in Canada that man would have been put away for life because he raped a little girl. What if it was your 11 year old daughter that he decided to rape?

…You are by far the dumbmest person ever to walk this planet….same with you navygunner. The guy is 19. HE should know better then to have sex with ANYBODY under the age of 18.

  • ku5hXx wrote on 3 July, 2010, 3:52

  • mj wrote on 29 August, 2010, 13:04

because even if an 11 year old “wants it” its still rape.
if an 11 year old wants to smoke we don’t them, because 11 year olds can’t make educated decisions for themselves.

Jessikah, you, mj, and Travis Smith are without a doubt the most ignorant, closed-minded people I have ever encountered, and I can honestly say that I feel the world would be better off without your special brand of stupidity.

The 11 year old girl was not raped. She and the 19 year old had sex. Together. Because it was legal to do so. Why you can’t get that through your head and feel you must impose YOUR values on a completely different society is beyond me. Here in the US (I assume that’s where you are from) 11 year old girls are having sex before, after, and during school every day! You can’t say that their decision to do so is any less informed than a 20-year old woman’s,. because I’m pretty sure they all learned in sex ed class (not to mention it’s common sense) that they can and will get pregnant if they don’t use protection.

    Goddamn you people are dumb.

  • Matt wrote on 7 September, 2010, 6:09

How is possible to anynone to even think as good thing when children (11 years old still childhood) had sex and get pregnant…. Only APA members could think like that….

By the way, APA is not a real, is sarcasm, in case you try to contact them!!!!

THAT’S CRAZY WHAT I’VE READ HERE! I HOPE IT NEVER HAPPENS IN THE USA! MAYBE IT’S NORMAL FOR BULGARIA, BUT NOT FOR OUR SOCIETY.

PS: YOU’RE CRAZY MATT !!! YOU HAVE PROBABLY TRIED SEX WITH CHILDREN YOURSELF???

  • Matt wrote on 9 September, 2010, 14:07

Hey idiots, did I SAY it was a good thing? Why the fuck are you calling me a pedophile when all I did was re-iterated the facts stated squarely in the article: That this happened in Bulgaria, where it’s normal. Call me names all you want, but when all is said and done there is a smiling girl in that photo who seems happy that she has a baby. NOWHERE in the article did it say she was abused. So both of you get off your moral high-horses and GROW UP.

  • Matt wrote on 9 September, 2010, 14:09

Just to clarify it one more time since it probably STILL hasn’t sunken into your fat little skulls:
I am as much against child abuse as any of you.

    UNFORTUNATELY….

“Kordeza’s story is simple and touching: meeting her would-be husband, Jeliazko Dimitrov, 19, on the school playground. Engaging themselves in games and then in sexual games. Preventive measures? Using a condom? They hadn’t even heard these words.”

This doesn’t sound like child abuse. Read a little about Bulgarian culture before you judge, OK?

  • Manuel wrote on 9 September, 2010, 15:36

    Ok Matt, sorry about that….

Maybe u right. Maybe we misinterpreted your words. Maybe is common for people far away USA to let children play with adults. Maybe it is common that girl in fact never heard about condoms and preventive measures. Maybe the 19 yrs old husband like young girls (too much younger)…. I like to know if in eleven years when her child got pregnant by a horny prick like himself, he would realized what he did……
Here in Peru, bullfight is part of the culture. It is cruel and promotes brutality, but it is considered “culture”, however, that does not make it better or acceptable……

do You have daugthers…? hope not.

In case you have, why dont you introduce with your partners in Bulgaria, maybe you would be grand father soon….

  • Matt wrote on 10 September, 2010, 6:33

Manuel, I am not Bulgarian, I am American. And I never said it was normal or right for a 19 year old to get it on with an 11 year old, only that it seems like that sort of thing is acceptable in Bulgaria. To me all that matters here is that no one seems to have been hurt, and the girl seems happy. If this had been a clear-cut case of abuse, fine, but it doesn’t look that way in the slightest.

  • George wrote on 13 September, 2010, 5:32

Actually this happens all the time (girls having babies at such early ages) among the gipsy communities in Romania. They actually get married at such ages; their parents decide who marries who.

Get your own shit together in your own country before telling others how to run their own lives if it works for them and does not harm anyone, so be it, i suppose your history is not the same as other countries a few years back it was the sign of woman hood her first period she has become a woman she can now marry and bare children some thing like that. as her life span maybe be shorter than yours as her life style is poorer than your countries, no hospitals etc . no health care and running water she maybe lucky to live to the good old age of 40 if she is lucky and her kids may survive until it is a few years old wow but what the hell don’t have kids because it might offend some western liberal on a crusade to fix the world with wars. lies and debt, so mind your own business live your life and help others not criticize them for trying to survive this mess we all live in

  • Steve wrote on 20 October, 2010, 13:31

Trev, I couldn’t have put it in better words. I am not saying that it should be normal for everyone to have sex with young kids, but these people probably didn’t even know that what they were doing was wrong (or maybe not convenient). We are animals after all, remember? Reproduction is an instinct that we no longer follow because of what society has thought us. If two people are in love and they feel this urge, which they probably don’t know the consequences of, they will just do it. Lets just hope that in the future such countries will have the means to educate all their people in these topics. I could just go on and on, but as it has been said here before, I am just glad that no one was hurt, both the mother an child look healthy and happy.

  • ela wrote on 25 October, 2010, 8:42

for gipsy girls in that area (eastern europe) 9-13 years for being “married” is normal and most of them in poor conditions do have kids at 12-13, only the richer families can afford to keep them home, but still if a gipsy girl is not married at 16, or at least engaged she will probably never get a gipsy spouse. talking about families with 5 kids each in one one of the girls had this issue, and got married at about 30 with another national guy, in the other family there is also one who is almost 30 not married, and won’t be with another gipsy for sure

  • ashley wrote on 26 October, 2010, 7:46

This is really shocking to me to find out that an 11 year old to be having sex at her age. But i can understand that it is different in some cultures that it is ok to get married and have sex at a young age. But still this is really shocking for to have a baby at her age.

  • Sarah wrote on 29 October, 2010, 8:43

Look, I do not think this is a good situation. I don’t think having a child at age 11 is a good idea by any stretch of the imagination. However, please stop being so nasty to Matt. He has a good point; this short snippet of the story is not telling the full facts. The girl DID lie to the boy and say she was 15 (which is believable, from her appearance). This is NOT illegal in Bulgaria where the age of consent is indeed set at 14. Also, the pair are now married with the 19 yo husband stating his desire to care for his wife and daughter and worried he won’t be able to because of the prospect of jail.

They both may have made some stupid decisions, but this is not rape. Keep that term for situations that actually warrant it.

its insane for a 11 year to be a mother. From the picture above, she’s excited and
doesn’t seem to have to realize how to move forward. its seems her parents have to look after their grand child along with their child. As for the 19 year old guy, atleast some punishment must be given??????????

  • Cory wrote on 4 November, 2010, 6:22

Are you guys mental? The 19 year old was more than old enough to think ‘sex = baby’ with or without knowledge of a condom.

Yes. She SAID she was 15 but come on. He was in her PLAYGROUND. She’d be roughly 10 years old! And if that wasn’t a big enough hint for the man, her lack of sexual knowledge and innocence should have been one hell of a hint. Now she’s got a baby and will probably not return to school.

I don’t know where you guys come from, but in my country, it doesn’t matter what the under age girl says. If she is under age, she is under age, and that means jailtime for the idiot who slept with her.

Besides, what kind of prick goes into a playground and starts to ‘have innocent fun’ with the girls there?

  • cyn wrote on 4 November, 2010, 14:52

if u look at this another way, some times in certain societies, girls being married off at the peak of their fertility is a social responsibility for them. The peak of fertility is usually about 14, but not always the case, it really depends on the physical maturity of the girl. As I see, the girl certainly looks ‘ripe’. I don’t really know about their culture, but for my grandma’s era, it was normal to be married off to have children as young as 12 or 13, sometimes it isn’t about stupid parents or what, but for them marrying off their daughters early is a sign of good planning for her future in her society back then.

The girl and boy may be naive and all, but it is both consensual. Indeed true that under 18 will be considered rape or what… but some laws is that if both gets married with parental consent before the child registers (as in born and registered as citizen), they will not be charged because they can give birth once they are legally married no matter the age. And because you can’t really blame the boy alone, it is best they got married and not get punished at all.

Seriously, who are we to judge if they are stupid, or if their parents are dumb, or whatever.
She seems happy, whether for now or not, it is not our problem. Just like we should not make noise about other social or religious practices, we shouldn’t judge them this badly.

You know according to the bible, people had thought that Mary was but 13 years old. Now that is a couple year older than 11, but i’m saying, girls start their periods, not women, girls. In other cultures, yes it is disgusted and frowned upon for such a young girl to have sex and be married with kids, but it happens, in many, many, many, places. Cultures are different. If a girl has their period so young, perhaps it is meant that from that age and older, she is allowed to have a family. I’m not a scientist or a professor as to say when the correct age is to have a family, or perhaps how to live the perfect life style. Not everybody is going to accept any 1 idea or any 1 culture or any 1 beleif as the way we should rightly live and what is proper.

the age of consent varies worldwide. in america or usa as it is known, only a few states recognize 18 as the legal age to have sex, other states recognize lower age bar.  we see these cases happening in south american nations also, in mexico for instance it is not that uncommon seeing young girls getting pregnant. honduras, guatemala, el salvador and other countries below it have shown this problem also. arab/muslim nations also have a similar problem, with iran and afghanistan showing very serious problems of having young girls married to adult males, often by force and against the girl’s knowledge and consent. i think we should consider this into the formula of morality when trying to understand what is right or wrong with child pregnancies. 11 years is low, and biologically it isn’t impossible. but morally speaking this age may be violating some kind of human principle that is connected with abuse, mainly because one is likely to think that the female child is just too young to understand what she does in having sex with an older partner. modern societies have developed advanced law philosophies that guide their conduct toward a high minimum age bar. but don’t go to far, in the 1990s in usa there was an increase of teen pregnancies, and i think that each nation around the world experiences this situation every year.

what keeps humans apart from the rest of the animals in this world is their ability to reason and to judge according to their apprehension of moral and ethical and logical values. moral human intelligence provides a means by which people can determine exactly what is wrong with a particular behavior and how it should be performed or avoided in the future. there are still child marriages held in india, and in old age china arranged marriages was quite common; and let us not forget the fact that chinese emperors loved young concubines.

this is not to say that a child age 11 ought to be legally allowed by government to perform sex freely. but there is nothing that is going to stop an 11 year old girl (young woman depending on how one sees things in society) from having her sex experience. a few years ago a report showed that teens in usa were having sex as early as 13 and that the number may be lower in the near future. i personally believe that most teens have sex experience (although not necessarily penetration) around 13, so there’s the likelihood that some teens may have their sex experience at an early age, say 12 or even 11, depending on the circumstances of the case.

is this case rape? by law it may be considered rape, but again that depends on the law of the particular nation considered. if the female lied about her age it still does not absolve the male partner from his legal obligation to avoid that sexual conduct with someone who may look or who actually looks younger than the age she claims to be. i think there’s a burden on the males in most cases to secure themselves in cases where the female may actually be “legally protected against sex”. and i believe that many males use their “i did not know she was a minor” excuse as a defense against rape accusation and conviction.

very well, i have provided some thoughts on the matter

i hope i have been of service

    happiness

    stresx

As for this poor young girl, just because she is “smiling” does not mean that she was not raped! I myself have a beautiful daughter that was conceived after i was raped, and yes I SMILE. Why? because she is the good that God brought out of the bad. and my daughter is the MOST BEAUTIFUL content happy baby and its NEVER the babys fault no matter how it was conceived so why punish the baby? and I would never regret my decision or change a DAMN thing! I admire and have the upmost respect for this little girl and her mother for keeping the baby after being raped. America needs to realize the importance of life. Here we are condemning this girl when we as adults in this country are whores/man whores and get pregnant or impregnate and then go and kill an innocent baby that didnt have any say in the act the stupidity. all because we are selfish and to immature to sleep in the bed we made. Its sad that that an 11yr old has more of a sense of responsibility and is more mature then any of who are grown adults in the US. AND SHE WAS RAPED!!! GOD HELP AMERICA!!!!!!!

All you people defending what is statutory rape are STUPID! It does not matter what is culturally accepted in other countries, it does not matter what an 11 year old “thinks” she wants. When a 19 year old ADULT has sex with an 11 year, it is ABUSE.
I have seen on news reports 10 year old girls work as prostitutes in Asian countries such as Thailand, does that make it ok for those children to be victimized because it is socially accepted in those countries??? Of course not!
I am SO fortunate to live in the USA were we protect CHILDREN from such abuse…

She just skipped a step, like alot of people from Canada(were im from) and the USA. She had a kid on her wedding day and from a website i read that she went into the hospital still in her gown and tiara.
“Dimitrov now faces up to six years in jail for having sex with a minor.” So he is getting punished for it and has o face the consequeses about having sex with and 11 year old girl. But by all means share your opinion! Just stop calling her a slut, hoe, stupid. It’s rude and that would probably really offend her if she seen all this.

Meg, get off your high horse, nobody came here to read your story. Trev, shut up and everyone get a grip. I certainly don’t think it’s A-okay for an 11-yr old to have a baby , still being a child herself and all but I’m hoping things will turn out for the best. The best any of us can do is to pray for this girl and her baby.

Ok guys, she told him she was 15 and there the legal age is 14! And really? a life sentence?? thats terrible and all of you should be locked away with your hateful minds. and he didnt RAPE her! she had sex with him. Also, it wasnt ‘getting pregnant on her wedding day’ she was getting married to the guy that got her pregnant because thats what people there do.

Okay, morals are morals. But we have to understand, it’s not rape because AS IT WAS PREVIOUSLY mentioned they did not tell the whole story. As a fifteen year old myself, we have no reason to look down upon what happened. Surprising? Yes. Wrong? Not necessarily. I mean, this guy did not know what he was doing was illegal. Especially when he was lied to. After all BOYS WILL BE BOYS, and he saw no harm considering the fact that the consent is 14. Here in kentucky consent is 16, and girls get pregnant even before that. We act like this stuff only happens in other countries, NO. I have seen girls get pregnant since 7th grade, and now as a junior, I regularly see pregnant girls everywhere. We have to remember, our country may not  be set up the same way. THIS GIRL STILL HAS HER LIFE AHEAD OF HER, she is just simply living it in a different way than what we are used to and people cant seem to accept that. But its over now, she’s had the baby and from the picture she looks pretty happy. Im just glad the boy stood up to his responsibilities. Life will get better for both of them as time passes by.

It doesn’t matter if a girl lies about her age, if its under the legal age of consent it’s still rape. And an 11 year old cannot make decisions for themselves, or else why not make 11 the age of majority instead of 18? She’s a child. And if it was your daughter, you’d send the guy to jail. Because it is rape.

You want real rape? Go look up Jaycee Dugard, who lost 18 years of her life to the father of her two children. She was forced to live in a tent, from age 11 to 29, kidnapped by an old married man. This girl is getting married to the father of her child. Who she chose to be with. And chose to have sex with. Jaycee and many, many other kidnapees did not choose. They were forced.
This girl is quite obviously happy with her child and probably her husband too.

  • Razer wrote on 9 July, 2011, 0:57

I am absolutely amazed at the stupidity I’ve seen spouted here. It doesn’t matter that she lied the guy should be killed/go to jail? So what if your brother or son was the one that was lied to? Many schools in other countries have all ages together. In China they have boarding schools with kindergarten to college on the same campus. There are play grounds, swimming pools, and gyms scattered throughout the campus. All of the students interact with each other. Most of the uniforms are the same, so it would be very easy for an older student to interact with a much younger student without knowing their age.
Instead of trying to vilify a situation you actually know jack about how about turning your attention to something that matters? Like the child sex industry in India, Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, and Indonesia? Instead of vomiting up empty insults against people who you will never meet or even know if you passed them on the street, find out what you can do to actually HELP young girls who aren’t doing this BY CHOICE.
Girls lie ALL THE TIME to get older guys to notice them, just like guys lie ALL THE TIME to get into girls pants. It’s been this way for years. The thing is when a young girl lies aside from possibly getting pregnant (which many want to do anyway, God only knows why) there’s no consequences for them, but they can totally destroy a guy’s life, who’s only wrong doing was believing the girl/woman he loved when she told him her age. By the way, in the states this guy would have also gotten thrown in jail if he was 14 or 15. Most states the statutory laws apply if you are more than two years away from the age of the younger. So still think ‘statutory rape’ ‘perps’ should die and be thrown in jail for life?
On a totally different track, where do you people get off calling him sick for being attracted to an 11 year old? Just walking down the street or going to the mall I see 90% of the women/girls dressed like street walking whores. They’re all made up with push up/padded bras, heels, tramp tags, etc, and then one turns to the other and calls her grandma. Go out get educated to the real world, and then grow up.

What does “understanding another culture” have to do with anything? If their culture is such that this is normal in any way, then the entire country should be deleted and let’s start over with people who have studied child psychology. Jesus. Slavery was a cultural norm too, but then we got educated. Eleven year olds do not have the mental or emotional capability for sex. If you think they do, then you are a pedophile and should be killed.

Wow everybody well not everybody most people are going hard about the age that this girl had sex and conceived a child, but this has happened in America so we can’t even say anything about it most people are talking about how things should be what should happen to the 19 year old for what he did Matt said it very clearly as the article did they never heard of condoms or protective measure against pregnancy. I agree with the people who realize that even though they feel that it’s not something that a person should do especially with someone 8 years younger, but that’s their culture who are we to say what’s right and wrong that’s like other countries coming to America and getting on us for all of our bull crap we as people have to realize that we can’t judge others for instincts that we all have I mean damn in the 3rd grade I heard that a 10 year old on the news became pregnant with her fathers baby HER FATHERS BABY and yet we are all going ape shit about 2 people in a different part of the world for their culture I’m not saying it’s what but they are some more important things we should focus on thats all I have to say

  • Jay wrote on 16 July, 2011, 16:32

Did I read that she met her future husband? And they indulged in “sexual” games? Was their marriage determined BEFORE the act ?Or after, because they had sex and a baby? Everyone agrees – agrees violently that getting pregnant at 11 is not OK. I would look at the incident in the context of the support that the girl has culturally to manage her situation. Would the society in her country accept this situation and let her be? My mother was married legally when she was 14 and had her first baby when she was 18. Now there is legislation setting the minimum age for marriage for women as 21. If we believe that girls at 11 must not have sex, then we need to have appropriate behaviour instilled into children. this does not happen by simply legislating. It is about how you are taught to behave, made to dress appropriately etc. If we believe that its OK to have sex at 11 then there must be a social system that supports it. In our country, it used to be OK for parents to decide their child’s spouse and marry the girl off BEFORE puberty. She goes to LIVE with her husband after she attains puberty with a lot of fanfare and celebration. Every sociely is different and I believe we should try to understand in context rather than impose the somewhat legisslation driven behaviour we see in the United States. I think the issue is also about whether a girl is PHYSICALLY ready to bear a child at 11. I dont think so!!

  • mary wrote on 16 July, 2011, 22:09

Think of it people, the girl was maybe 10 when she got pregnant, so i am assuming it was not the first time. Which mean, she was maybe 8 or 9. The man is a sex offender and should be in jail. Why are they married?????

I personally would not have been happy to have a child at the age 11, nor would I be happy if my daughter (If I had one) was to do this, but having studied cross-cultural Psychology myself, I have learnt very quickly, that people from Western society are very good at throwing there beliefs on people that do not want or need them. Who says that in this young girls culture she has not been raised in such a way that she is prepared to be what her culture considers a good mother. Just because in the society that you live in, girls are not ready to be Mothers at 11 does not mean that this is the case World Wide. Many countries believe that if you are old enough to give birth to a baby you are ready to be a mother and this is something that has worked for them for a very long time. Do you think that birth control and abortion existed since the begining of humananity. Do you think back when all our ancestor lived in tribes (Yes, it may come as a shock to some of you western people that we weren’t always “civilised”) that the tribe leader said “Your not 18 you cant have a baby and your husband will be recieving the lethal injection”. The age in which a girl is ready to give birth and raise a child will always be different, because we are all raised differently and that affects maturity levels greatly. Just becaus your definition of a “good mother” is not the same as someone elses does not mean that your is the “right” way and this girls culture has it “wrong”. Maybe some of you people need to leave your sheltered little lives and realise that just because you were raised to think it is “wrong” does not mean that is the case. If a child is Happy (and not your definition of happy, which is living in a big house, having designer clothing and going to a fancy school) I mean happy, like fulfilled in the context in which they wish to be fufilled, then you should not trouble yourself. To be educated and civilised in not to try and change others, it is to understand but not interfer.

And how can u fault the parents even though we say kids r 2 young 2 make some decisions, but u and I both know that at some point its all about the choices the kid makes and u all know we can be sneaky or lie at times n order 2 do what we want 2 do. So I feel like this its their life we dont have have 2 like it cause its their life not ours!!!!

A new campaign by Philadelphia officials to reduce sexually transmitted diseases allows children as young as 11 to receive free condoms via mail order, outraging some parents who believe that’s too early to start getting physical.

The program, offered by the city’s Department of Health, features a website that includes facts on diseases like Chlamydia, gonorrhea and HIV/AIDS, as well as detailed — and playful — instructions for young girls on how to use female condoms….

Jeff Moran, a spokesman for Philadelphia’s Department of Health, said the campaign was launched last week. No complaints had been received as of today, he said.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter unveiled the campaign on April 7 as he announced the winning design for the city’s custom-labeled condom wrapper.

Recent national data indicates that Philadelphia has one of the highest rates of STDs among comparable cities, with African-Americans and adolescents being disproportionately affected, according to city officials. And a 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that 37 percent of sexually active Philadelphia high school students did not use a condom during their last sexual encounter.

I don’t like the fact that young girls are getting pregnant and why so young but when it’s in a different country, what can you do? It’s their country, their rules, you know? We can bitch and complain that it’s not right but are any of us doing anything about it? I guess not. I do not like the idea of any child getting pregnant either by force or not but nobody seems to do anything about it. Before us “Americans” judge other country of their ‘rules” we should look in our society first. We have young girls almost close to that age, having sex, drinking, doing drugs and getting pregnant and most do get on welfare and end up taking care of the child them self and maybe some help from their own parents because the daddy don’t want to be around (most of them).

  • gratedcheese wrote on 20 December, 2011, 13:23

I think that it is kind of wrong that she had a kid at that age, but it is part of their culture and they should be respected as such. Whatever they feel is right, should be what they do. And Matt is right. In the US, having sex with a minor (if they wanted to or not) it is considered rape. So you may think that is untrue, but the justice system believes it to be. But this article does not disclose the fact that the father is facing jail time. So, yeah. (No further comments please. First and last time user of this site.)

  • Jessica wrote on 22 December, 2011, 7:02

Sarah and Matt are right, thier culture is much different. They also failed to show all of the facts. Also, thier culture is much different than most. Yes, the age of consent is 14. And yes, she did lie and tell him that she was 15. So before you start rambling on about how sick and stupid they are, or that they’re pedophiles, try sinking the facts through your thick skull.

In the bible Mary was only 13 when she was enpregnanted with Jesus… In the hispanic culture and many other cultures girls are married off as young as 13 to men as old as 65 yrs.. thats the way things have been done for hundreds of years.. only in the last hundred or couple hundred years its been made out to be a more and more unheard of / scandalous / or terrible thing… you people need to know your own history before you can say that it is a terrible thing… alot of people even in the USA have married into their own families to “preserve blood lines” it has happened in all of our families.. thats just how it is…

For all of you that bashed and accused the USA of what is supposedly legal or illegal, you need to shut the hell up because every culture is different. In the USA, any person under the age of 17, who has sex with someone older than 17, is considered a rape victim. I’m 19, I’ve had 2 pregnancies. One was when I was 17, with twins but, I had a miscarriage with that one. 3 1/2 weeks ago, I had a baby boy. I know someone who’s 12 and pregnant. I’m not saying it’s right but seriously, if it’s legal in another country, then drop it! Don’t judge this young girl when she’s married!
You may think that I’m okay with this, and I’m not, but we need to consider the other cultures.

@stargurll: If you had a child now, it’d be a lot more work than you probably think. Raising a child is no easy task. I’m up every 2-3 hours to feed him, change his diaper, and give him the occasional bath. My boyfriend works so it’s not easy unless it’s the weekend, then he does all the work for me so I can sleep.

I just don’t believe that people can be so judgemental in what they read, and don’t see it happening in their own country or communitity. The thing that I don’t get it, if the person who is caught committing the crime or incident, the familie and friends would all say “that he doesn’t need to be sentenced for that, cause he would never hurt a fly” or sayings as such, when the person is found guilty. If you read what the article stated, it wasn’t something that took place right that instance, but in a matter of time, from what I’m reading……This world we live in is crazy anyway. Anything and everything is happening and its being done without remorse……I think there is something wrong with the system itself. all we can do is just comment and get ourselves ridiculed by others…….

This is straight off of the presses, I had a very nice conversation with someone in another country, and she told me that where she is from, it is customary for young girls to be wedded off to older men, because if the man can provide for her, than the families agree upon it, plus, it takes the burden off of the girls parents, because the parents can’t provide for her the way they would want it to be. I also agree with those who believe that others have their own customs and beliefs. So, let it be, we may live in a different soceity as others. And I find that our system, there are a lot of flaws. But yet, they all want to be judgemental in what they see or view…..Sad…..

i dont give a damn about their society says is acceptable. it is wrong and the man is selfish. she is 11 she should not be raising a child. they are both selfish to her parent who are going to have step in to raise her and her child. some of you commenters are sick in the head id you think this is OK. her parents failed her. she hasnt properly developed yet, psychically or emotionally, so she will not be a good role model to the baby. i cant stand how men are so obsessed with youth it is creepy. then to top it off she is getting married. no 11 year old should promise their life away. I bet that man isnt even going to take care of either of them. he is scum

  • shar wrote on 21 January, 2012, 15:50

o whatever about its their culture. im 19 and i wouldnt have sex with some who is 11.not because of my culture but it is just wrong. the man is a creep and too pathetic. at least if the woman was 19 she could look after the baby. but a 11 year old cant bring in an income to support a baby  (excluding willow smith). anyone supporting this needs to be shot

I think it’s sad that people have spent so many months throwing around all this negativity towards the girl, her family, culture, etc. If a girl thinks she’s ready to engage in the act, all that would stop her is proper education and maybe her parents threatening to shoot the guy. Children often do unusual and even (in the eyes of some) immoral things out of curiosity. Maybe she wondered what would happen if she kept letting him pleasure her, because when it’s not forced, a child might perceive it as “if it feels good it must be good”. When I was her age, I knew people who had been sleeping around for awhile — lo and behold, a lot of them are mothers now, and became that under 20.

People need to quit bashing other cultures and countries just because in THEIR country or narrow mind, something is wrong. She looks happy, one of the mentioned articles DID state that her parents would be Violeta’s legal guardians. It doesn’t much matter how the situation happened, only how they’re handling it.

I’m not saying I am FOR children having children. God forbid (and I’m not religious in the slightest) that a child be a mother young; my cousin just turned 8, her middle sister only just 13. How do you think their families would handle them being pregnant, or married that young? In Canadian culture, as much as it’s viewed as wrong, it happens all the time. Young people just aren’t educated enough to realise what happens if they do that unprotected, or even know what birth control is. In my childhood, we learned about sex in school in the fourth grade; some of us were told sooner by our parents, and any bets the parents that tell us early were 14-19 when we were born?

Not trying to raise a shit storm or anything, just wanting to voice an opinion (:

Also, people, learn to use grammar please? :D It’s sad to see the 10-30 year-olds having the same levels of grammar and proper spelling these days, at the fault of the magical devices we call technology.

thank you, have a nice day (:

Dang! When I was 11 years old I was still playing with Barbie dolls and going to sleepovers! That was just over 10 years ago! This is so unusual to me… I just can’t imagine being happy with any life-changing decision I could have made at 10 or 11 years old. Things have changed so much for me in the last decade, I’ve changed my opinions, my desires and I’ve taken time to find myself and figure out my purpose in life.
If I had gotten pregnant or married some guy at such a young age, I would probably be miserable now! I honestly feel sorry for this little girl. She’s going to be responsible for raising a child when she herself has not grown up yet… but then again, I guess I just don’t understand the culture. She’s going to have a tough road ahead of her so more than anything I just hope she is surrounded by love and support from family members, friends and neighbors. Above all, I hope that her husband is a perfect gentlemen to her and the family they’re raising.

The guy is not a paedophile. Paedophilia is a mental disorder rather than the term used to label anyone who has sex with underage people. That mother told the father that she was 15, a year over the age of consent in Bulgaria because she thought he wouldn’t fancy her if she told him the truth. We see it happening all the time in Western cultures, with girls telling guys they are older than they are. While I don’t condone the guys behaviour, they should both hold responsibility because of their actions. The father was also worried he wouldn’t be able to provide for his family because he might have to go to jail, and the grandmothers are going to be guardians for the little girl. Just because their culture is different doesn’t mean it’s wrong; as a lot of people have stated, it’s just the way they do things in that culture. The fact that they getting married means that they’re taking responsibility for their actions in my opinion and not being amoral.
