If you liked transformers in your childhood you can play the same kind of game with adult gadgets that are eco-friendly and twice useful for you and your kid.

The Taga Bike costs £1,500 and offers you twofold service for this money. Here’s a sturdy baby pushchair that – given some folding and fixing – can be easily converted into a bicycle with a seat for the baby.

It allows you to carry the child to a spot some distance away (a park or a shopping mall) and then with a little technical skill turn the parent-with-a-child bike into a convenient stroller, to be re-transformed when it’s time to go back. If there is no kid yet, you can use it as a common bike until you get around to needing a baby pushchair.

Taga’s 3-wheel carrier bike that can be toggled to a premium stroller with little effort can bring fresh charms and added convenience to the outings with the little one. A spokesperson for Taga referred to this engineering toy as “a beautiful way for you and your baby to experience your world together.”

A recent research says if the average couple decides to try for a baby they’ll have to go to bed 104 times before they get their wish realized! Six months was found to be a period usual for a woman to get pregnant, and with a common practice of having sex about four times a week, that’s what the desire to have a baby amounts to.

It “does sound rather a lot”, admits Dr. Mike Smith of First Response upon analyzing the results of the poll involving 3,000 mothers.

Wishing to conceive a baby, 10% women decided it would be best to have their husbands home from work on the days they were ovulating. But another 70% women shy from the idea of working on it and would much prefer a spontaneous fit of passion to result in their getting pregnant.

Men seem to like it both ways… as they should.

Dr. Smith further remarked that it doesn’t have to take all of the 104 times and six months estimated, because many couples, fired by the wish to have a baby, engage in sex as often as they can.

But women who are not wanting to get pregnant for the present shouldn’t rely heavily on these data and had better use precautions every time they have sex.

The 30-year-old Brazilian supermodel, who gave birth to son Benjamin last December and a few months later surprised everybody by publishing bikini photos showing her excellent figure, puts it down to breastfeeding. For Gisele Bundchen breastfeeding is not just what the doctor ordered, it’s something that “should be a worldwide law” for the first six months.

“I think breastfeeding really helped me keep my figure,” the model shares with Harper’s Bazaar UK, adding that it’s incomprehensible for her that some women should neglect breastfeeding and keep their little children on “chemical food”.

But Bundchen was taking her pregnancy seriously long before her baby saw the light of day. As an expectant mom, she used meditation sessions to prepare herself for the psychological and physical strains of childbirth. “It’s called ‘labor’ not ‘holiday’ for a reason, and I knew that,” she remarked.

Considering that delivery is going to become a major physical experience in the life of a woman, she thinks it strange that other moms-to-be should approach it without due preparations.

Treating childbirth lightly is senseless for the model who regarded it as “work” on her part. “I wasn’t expecting someone else to get the baby out of me,” was Bundchen’s attitude as she laid heavy stress on the necessity on the part of the mom to be ready for the great event.

The famous transgender man Thomas Beatie, who marked a new epoch back in 2008 when he gave birth to a baby, doesn’t mean to stop! And now he gave birth to his third baby for the past two years!

RadarOnline delivers the whole story exclusively, with the assistance of a source close to the Beatie family.

Beatie himself is described as a thick-set man, robust-looking and handsome, with blue eyes and brownish hair.

His first child was a baby girl, Susan, born June 2008. She kept Thomas in the hospital for four days. (All Thomas’s children were born naturally at the same hospital, St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, OR.) With the second, son Austin, he stayed there but two days, for the boy was in good health and there was no need to stay on.

The new baby kept the male mother in hospital for only 24 hours (on Sunday, July 25), and there was a close chance of Thomas giving birth to the baby before he got there. He was past his due date, and he was already into contractions coming on every five minutes. “It was a very quick labor. He… almost had him in the car!” said the source.

Now Beatie and his wife Nancy have a family of five that makes them all the happier with all of them gladly adjusting to a renewed routine of having another child at home.
The Beaties prefer to lead a private life, especially now that they have a newcomer. “It’s happy bliss. They’re soaking up all the love,” is how the source depicts their happiness.

During the past ten years fanciful British parents ran up quite a list of highly uncommon names they gave their children, sometimes borrowing words from the worlds of cars or fashion to use them as names!

Researchers from Bounty.com ploughed their way through reams of records looking up unusual baby names given since the beginning of the century. They came up with a Top 20 list that places such names as Shy, Unity and Bean firmly on top places. And naturally, being leaders, they are not the strangest ones yet.

Some car fans went so far as to name their children Porsche or – a more educated and generalized idea – Diesel.

MTV may have helped bring about the idea of naming your little one Bowie or Cobain, with Maroon also very much reminiscent of Maroon 5.

Fashion craze gave rise to personal names like Armani and Denim (maybe Serge would have been more suitable, after all?)

Deriving names from children’s surroundings resulted in the appearance of children called Puppy, Ice and Stone. And maybe we should congratulate parents who thought up the name Victory!

A craving for beauty and flights of fantasy drove some to name their children Gift, Echo and Heaven.

A spokeswoman for Bounty.com expressed her concern with the names she called “wacky”, which represent a growing tendency among British parents to try and be very creative over their children’s names. It is all right if you want your child’s name to single him or her out, “but there are a few names here that children may find hard to live up to!”

The bottle was created by two fathers, Nikolaj Leonard-Hjorth and Rasmus Schiegelow. You don’t need electricity, a cord, heating bags or boiling water. The secret behind it is a unit called iiamo warm that contains salt and water. When mixed, a reaction of rehydration occurs (gaining lost fluid back) which releases warmth that heats the milk.

Eco-friendly feeding bottle Iiamo Go has a built-in anti-colic fan system. The system controls air flow which prevents vacuum in the bottle. Iiamo flow is baby bottle teat available in four sized for different ages.

The announcement on his Facebook and Twitter pages – that was linked to by 35,623 of his more than six million social networking fans already – said that he is overwhelmed and delighted at the event.

Ronaldo, who turned 25 in February and was once reported to have a liaison with Kim Kardashian, leaves out the boy’s mother’s name. The Portuguese national team captain wrote that there is an arrangement between him and the American mother, by whose terms her identity remains confidential, and the child passes to Ronaldo’s exclusive guardianship.

Talking to Us last Thursday at Pampers’ Daddy Play Date Fathers Day celebration she said she was about to drop another five pounds but she rather wouldn’t. She likes herself as she is now.

Picking up the thread of the criticism she attracted during her pregnancy for insufficient eating and setting up an unreasonable example for pregnant women, Frankel tried to put things into a truer perspective.

According to her, she never tried to give up good things like cheesecakes or desserts; the trick is in knowing when to stop. “I didn’t go overboard,” she claims. “I think people go crazy and that’s why they gain so much weight. People just have to be reasonable: Food is not your best friend or your enemy.”

When Us questioned Frankel on her post-baby diet, she described it as normal. Confessing to eating a bagel, a tuna sandwich and chips that morning, she said she doesn’t deny herself cakes or ice-creams because she knows when to stop. Never binge – never go overweight is Frankel’s motto that she thinks will go down well with every mother.

One can only wonder what this tiny Brazilian baby will pull on the dance floor some few years later, if what he can do now on the kitchen table is downright amazing.

Done up in a nappy, the little guy begins to shake his hips to the music, never minding that the place is rather unreliable for good fiery dancing… And he proves us wrong!

Maybe further incensed by family members who are videoing the scene on their handsets, the young entertainer shows an excellent arm job and gets more complicated as the song blares on.

The number of his online admirers went fast above 500,000 viewers, and has undoubtedly increased since. YouTubers hail the young genius as the rising Michael Jackson of this century!

Kim Kardashian, 29, knows few greater joys than being an aunt – her nephew Mason turned 5 months, and know what? There may be another nephew or niece coming soon!

Khloe, on the 9th, at the shooting of Talk Stoop in Brooklyn, when telling she was not pregnant, nevertheless did let drop that she hopes to be one day soon… And the next day she went to the Lakers championship to root for her husband Lamar Odom.

But being a child-loving woman doesn’t mean Kim stands for unreserved child-caring in public.

Friday she Twittered her indignation when observing at lunch a woman at the next table breastfeeding her baby without covering herself up.

The embarrassing scene over, the woman proceeded to care for her baby putting it on the table and changing the diaper. Too much for one lunch for the E! reality star.

Kourtney, 31, was also in that interview discussing children (She had made it up again with Scott Disick, by the way).

She hates it that her son should be on TV too. Kourtney would have liked it to be different… But she doesn’t want her son out of sight either, and at least, she says, “I don’t have to go to an office!”

Premature birth is known to be connected with learning difficulties, and it’s a grave problem facing kids who were born even a matter of a week or two before the fixed date. There’s a new study in the Public Library of Science Medicine that looks into the kinds of learning difficulties that babies born ahead of their due time may encounter in the future – such as autism and dyslexia.

According to the research findings, the risk of having to struggle with educational difficulties is reported to be higher in preterm children than in early-term ones.

The highest risk of developing autism or dyslexia threatens kids born between 37 and 39 weeks of gestation while it comes down in those born before 37 weeks.

The risk level for early-term babies, scientists add, has nothing to do with the delivery method.

As related to caesarean section, lead researcher Jill Pell reminded that “it is now normal policy to deliver women a week early,” pointing out that early-term births are not to be considered as caused by caesarean sections solely.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports there is a growing tendency in women anywhere in the world to prefer to deliver by caesarean section although there is no physical necessity for them to do so. These deliveries are mostly carried out earlier than the 40-week gestation date by at least one week.

Faye Mingo of bounty.com, commenting on the recent poll among 3,000 parents concerning the names they chose for their children, said: “Choosing a name that you and your child will love for the rest of their life is one of the first most important things that you’ll ever do for your child.”
It seems to be not an easy thing to do, for the survey revealed that one in five parents would prefer to have given some other name for their kid for various reasons.

19 per cent said that they regret having picked a common name like William, Oliver or Jack and letting the child share his name with so many other kids.

Alfie and Thomas are also names much regretted because of their commonness. Girls’ five most regretted names for the same reason are Chloe, Ruby, Olivia, Emily and Grace.

Some of the parents that named their children so as not to have too many namesakes around went for unusually-spelled names, which 20 per cent now wish they hadn’t.

15% discovered that they had opted for names that are often laughed at, sometimes even by other family members.

8% found that other people tend to mispronounce the names they picked for their little ones, so they and their children are now involved in the tiresome procedure of putting other people right.

Which goes to show that naming can be a bit more important issue not to be taken too lightly!

Last Friday the Social Security Administration issued the 2009 list of most popular baby names. It hardly surprised anybody to see the New Moon names heading the list!

Taylor Lautner’s Jacob has been the # 1 favorite boy’s name for 11 years in the row and has no intention to budge, but Kristen Stewart has firmly placed her Bella (or Isabella, to give her her full name) as girls’ new winner.

Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, proved his appeal through boosting not Edward or Robert, but Cullen. Although it didn’t enter the Top Twenty, it made another record, rising up 297 places in one year and coming # 485.

Girls’ fastest climber is Maliyah, a more fanciful version of President Barack Obama’s daughter’s name (Malia, 11 years old). It rocketed 342 notches up. The discovery of 2009 is Isla, a rare Scottish name that rose to fame with the growing popularity of the book The Baby Name Bible written by Isla Fisher (the pen-name of Linda Rosenkrantz). Ms. Rosenkrantz, together with Pamela Redmond Satran, is also known for NameBerry.com.

2008’s champion riser, Khloe, keeps up the good work gaining another 101 points up, “showing the continuing desire of parents to keep up with the Kardashians,” as Rosenkrantz pointed out.
69 little Baracks pushed the name up to place 1,993 where it got from place 12,533 in the last three years, but it still has to make another 1,211 to catch up with Bo, # 782.

The names that are finding the competition tough are Miley and Mylee. Lindsay Lohan’s name is another one to sag by as many as 143 spots hitting # 524, while Jonas lost 105 and Britney – 54.

It’s six months since Adriana Lima gave birth to her daughter, and she is already her last-year shapely self. “It was easy,” she shrugged the issue off when talking to UsMagazine at Thursday’s 3rd Annual Aerospace High Performance Championships in NYC.

The Aerospace High Performance Center is the very place to come across Lima – it is where she goes for her workouts with trainer Michael Oladjide. And she hasn’t missed a day yet!

“Often I come twice in one day!” the Brazilian supermodel shares. “It can be anywhere from one hour to…two hours.” Her training includes jump rope, boxing and other high-impact cardio routines.

Lima went for some dieting, staying off carbs and eating protein only for three weeks. She is reasonably careful about her eating habits, but likes a nutritious meal and doesn’t stoop to counting calories.

Valentina, the first child of Lima, 28, and her husband, NBA star Marko Jaric, was named so to commemorate the 2009 Valentine’s Day when her parents eloped together.

Victoria’s Secret Angel is wrapped up in motherhood, confessing to always hurrying home to get back to her daughter. “Every day I discover something about her,” she tells ecstatically. “Every single day is a pleasure to see her.”

Most of all parents delve into their wallets on holidays – for almost half of this sum – three days each year, at Christmas, Easter and their child’s birthday.

Christmas heads the list, emptying the loving parents’ pockets of the sum of £169.40. An average raid upon shops on the days preceding the kid’s birthday leaves £83.21 in the tills, while Easter gifts generally cost up to £27.24.

A third of the parents involved admit they choose the toys and gadgets that are already owned by their children’s friends. (How many of these they secretly crave for themselves remains undivulged.)

Esure, which commissioned the survey, issued a conclusion that said: “Most children want to keep up with their friends by having all of the latest must-have toys, and gadgets and this carries a hefty price tag.”

On top of it come rewarding gifts for kids’ successes in sports and studies that come up to £480 each year until the kids turn 18.

A study of childbirths in developing countries revealed that taller mothers’ babies are generally healthier and run less risk of dying before they turn five.

The study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association compared children in accordance with the height of their mothers and concluded that those born to shorter mothers show a marked tendency to have a lesser weight and sorter height. Besides, the risk of their dying in early childhood is higher by 40 per cent.

Links between the height of an adult and their income and lifespan have already been established, brought down to the influence of “the stressful nutritional environment of the mother in early life.”

The new study places maternal height in the list of the most important factors determining proper growth of the fetus, on a par with the mother’s income and education.

Lead researcher S. V. Subramanian of the Harvard School of Public Health pointed out that scientists hadn’t studied the effect of the mother’s height (as one of health factors) on her baby’s health and sturdiness before.

Thus, nutrition in adolescence becomes the focus point if we are to have taller adults and more robust children, scientists say, coupled with later marriages and childbirth.

Subramanian also stresses the social significance of the results. “We need to focus on interventions that have an intergenerational payoff, which happens only when you invest in children — especially girl children between ages 5 and 15.”

Also it is the first baby in the history of Twitter who’s gotten a Twitter account half a year before he or she appeared on the face of the Earth!

The “Cincoarmstrong” user already has a lot to tell about himself: “I got 2 arms, 2 legs, a nickname, and [I’m] 2 inches long. See y’all in October…I’m now the size of a lemon, 3.5 inches long, and weigh 1.5 ounces. And oh yeah, I’m on Twitter.”

Meanwhile the happy dad tweeters referring to the unborn fifth as “yet another blessing in our lives”.

It is going to be the second child for the 38-year-old cycler and his girlfriend Anna Hansen, the first – son Maxwell Edward – only 10 months old. Armstrong’s other three children – twin girls Isabelle and Grace, 8, and boy Luke, 11 – were given birth by his ex-wife Kristin.

The Tour de France winner gave an interview to his hometown paper, the Austin-American Statesmen, saying they intend to name the child either Jack or Olivia.

Contrary to established beliefs, the British children’s psychologists discovered that infants under 4 months of age are not able to distinguish human speech from other ambient sounds.

It is only by the age of seven months when babies start comprehending the vocal emotion expression. Scientists drew such conclusion based on the brain scans of infants that were conducted to observe their response to the voice. Scientists observed those brain regions which are involved in comprehending voice signals in adults. They found that infant’s brain start recognizing and analyzing the speech only after four months of age.

Furthermore, the scientists discovered that higher emotional intensity of speech creates better response in baby’s brain. You can read the full study in the scientific journal Pediatrics.

American government issued an alert on shoulder-cloth hazards for infants under 4 months of age. The Consumer Product Safety Commission investigated 13 shoulder-cloth related infant deaths occurred over the past 20 years with three cases being reported last year. One more death is under investigation at the moment. The Commission’s reps say 12 dead infants were younger than 4 months of age.

Shoulder-cloth deaths are basically related to choking caused by two major risks. First, shoulder-cloth can press on the nose and mouth of babies, making it hard for them to breathe. Second, lying in C-posture inside the shoulder-cloth below mother’s breast or around belly makes infants, whose neck muscles are very weak, press their chin to the chest so they can neither breathe nor even cry.

In this connection the Commission recommends parents to be particularly careful about using shoulder-cloths for babies under 4 months of age.

According to a psychological article published in Plos One magazine, this results in reducing their mother’s depression by 40 per cent as they get a chance to sleep better too.

The study authors emphasize that crying is not detrimental to infant’s mental health and when left alone crying they develop skills that help them fall asleep by themselves, instead of relying on being rocked into sleep by their parents.

Researchers clarify that these methods are appropriate for babies over six months of age. Such age restrictions are explained by the fact that newly born babies need to be fed at night while six month olds have to be gradually withdrawn from the night eating habit.

In-vitro fertilization (IVF) conception has been found to be greatly affected by such factor as air pollution, as reported in a recent study published in Human Reproduction.

Women trying to conceive through IVF who were exposed to polluted air run a large scale of dangers ranging from a more difficult preterm labor through a possible failure of having a successful birth to a lower weight of the newborn baby and lower IQ performance.

Exposure to different pollutants found in the air can end up in generating inner inflammation; oxygen-free radicals begin to appear in great quantities that damage cells and can even lead to formation of blood clots, which have been long found as pregnancy threats that should be taken very seriously.

The study reveals that vehicle exhaust pollutant nitrogen dioxide (NO2), if exceeding the average level, brings down the chances of a successful IVF birth.

The same result is observed after exposure to ozone after the IVF procedure, although a high ozone level registered during the period of ovulation, to the contrary, promises a better chance of conception.

Having thus added another health concern to the many linked with air pollution, scientists are sure that NO2 makes an important risk factor for expectant parents relying on IVF, yet pointing out that overall influence of various air pollutants is ambiguous and would require extensive investigation.
