Probably a couple with the longest history of trying to bear a child, Giuliana and Bill Rancic seem to have stepped on their final stretch of the road. The E! News host appeared on Monday’s Today show to happily announce that a baby is on the way!

The 37-year-old TV host spoke of the occasion as an answer to her and her husband’s prayers, and Bill Rancic, 40, stepped in to thank everyone who had been following their struggle story and said they feel “absolutely ecstatic.”

The Rancics have gone through infertility problems, a disastrous miscarriage and Giuliana’s developing breast cancer. Most of the bumpy ride went into creating of the Style Network reality show Giuliana & Bill with a fifth season in progress.

Rancic took her miscarriage two years ago so hard that she was on the verge of giving up on the whole idea. “I was angry at life and at God,” she said about the time, although after a while she rallied round and the family resorted to in vitro fertilization.

The keen desire made Rancic’s mind in favor of having a double mastectomy done in December, for lumpectomy and radiation therapy mean years of medication treatment which would have rendered childbearing impossible.

The Rancics are going to be genetic parents; the gestational carrier is said to live in another state, but the couple make a point of accompanying her to the doctor’s checkups.

They already know the sex of the baby, but they would like to keep it secret for a while, said Giuliana, and see how long they succeed in it!

Bethenny Frankel is known by her fans to be a sincere woman who shares her joys, sorrows, and lessons she learned, and these days she has things to tell, even if they do not qualify as very good news. Discussing her family life on the Today show with host Savannah Guthrie on Monday, Frankel was close to tears as she spoke of her (and her husband Jason Hoppy’s) recent bereavement. The couple, who already have one child, daughter Bryn, not yet two years of age, wanted to bear a sibling for Bryn – a wish that wasn’t to come true, as the Bethenny Ever After star suffered a miscarriage when the fetus was eight weeks old. The following period was for the 41-year-old Skinnygirl Cocktails founder a time of coming to terms with the misfortune. Her first onset of feelings was a refusal to believe in what people have to go through. She recounted that she felt beset by “a roller coaster of emotions,” asking herself whether she would be able to bear another child, whether she had badly failed as a wife, or whether her age was catching up with her… “There are so many things that come,” she explained. What the reality show star did to get out from under the burden of the loss was take more care of her daughter. She had quality time with Bryn and confessed she felt grateful to her for the solace and peace of mind. Gushed Frankel, “I do have an incredible daughter.”

Only three weeks ago the 19-year-old claimed that she was the happiest in the whole world – but unfortunately, it was not to be.

As E! reports from a trusted source, Gomez’s mother had a miscarriage.

Unluckily, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, following a tragic turn of events, are still left with only the 19 of them – the 20th child is not coming.

As they showed up for a routine check-up on Thursday wanting to learn the sex of their expected child, the doctor failed to detect a heartbeat and came to the conclusion that Michelle, 45, had suffered a miscarriage some time during her second trimester.

It was with a deep sadness that the couple returned home and informed their 19 children that the next child had perished – coming right after the evening that they spent discussing various names for the baby and eager to learn the baby’s sex.

Nevertheless, they are going to give the unborn a name after they get to know the sex and use it for a funeral service.

It was a bitter moment for Michelle and her husband when they had to break the news to the children. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms,” she recounted. But, she added, she and her family understand that the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, and the choice is up to Him.

Before that, the 19 Kids and Counting crowd had come through a medical trial that had hit their youngest, Josie, born about two years ago. It is also Michelle’s second miscarriage, the first one occurring during her second pregnancy. At the time they brought it down to oral birth control she was undergoing, which became one of the reasons Jim Bob and Michelle made up their minds that the number of kids they were to have should rest with God.

After a wearisome struggle ending in two miscarriages, the British singer gave birth to a girl on Friday – an event that is sure to delight the 26-year-old and bring welcome changes to her family life.

Her first miscarriage occurred in 2008 when Allen was into her fifth month with a baby with musician Ed Simon; her second one hit her almost a year ago at the sixth month of pregnancy.

Allen’s husband, her great love, businessman Sam Cooper, father of her child, proposed to her last Christmas on the Indonesian island of Bali. They wed half a year later, in June, at St. James the Great church in Glocestershire, England.

The name of their first child hasn’t been revealed yet.

Chelsea Muff will never forget how she was bearing her third baby. Nobody would, if they were first told they had miscarried and booked for the operation and in two weeks learned they were still with a baby. And Chelsea Muff has only herself to thank for saving the life of the fetus. She is now in her third month and feeling dizzy and stunned after what she had gone through.

When the 32-year-old mother of two children was scanned at Bradford Royal Infirmary she was told that she had had a miscarriage, upon which doctors gave her tablets that were to stimulate immediate labor. She was also booked for an operation in two weeks’ time.

Miss Muff felt so carried off her feet by the announcement that she found it hard to take it in. While she was coming to terms with her alleged miscarriage she decided not to take the tablets.

When the time for the operation came she was still numbed and realized she wouldn’t be able to face it. Instead of turning up for the operation she called the Infirmary and made arrangements for another scan, not telling them that she hadn’t been operated on.

What’s more, she was still displaying many symptoms of being pregnant and kept on gaining weight; so she thought she might as well take another chance of clearing up the situation.

Meanwhile Miss Muff read up on the subject and discovered that all the women who miscarried had internal scans, whereas she hadn’t. She made up her mind to have a second scan made and an internal one afterwards. But there was no need for it – her second scan revealed that her baby was alive and well!

The unfortunate mother says she is very happy to have kept the child, but she can’t shake off misgivings – “If they made a mistake the first time they could make another one and maybe got the second scan wrong,” she shares. “I am quite disgusted by the way the hospital have dealt with it.” She had no calls from the hospital to ensure of her well-being and see her through the ordeal.

Now Miss Muff takes it very carefully and spares herself any strain, but she is overwrought.

According to a spokesman for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Miss Muff’s case is being investigated by the hospital. The Foundation Trust voiced its sympathy for the confused woman and is going to check up on the progress of her pregnancy and discuss the hurtful issues she had encountered.

Miss Muff’s two previous children are Corey, 14, and Destiny, 11.

The scientists discovered that women, who had had a miscarriage, could get a real chance to give birth to a healthy baby without endangering their health and the life of the still unborn child.

The British researchers believe they have found a cheap and affordable medicine that can increase the chances of having a healthy baby if the woman has had a miscarriage before. The medicine is a steroid that is often used to cope with the symptoms of asthma.

Now, the scientists have discovered that this very substance can also be used to maintain pregnancy and avoid any trouble with health. However, it is necessary to take the medication regularly, otherwise its effect will disappear. It will help to significantly reduce the risk of miscarriage and will favorably affect the state of the woman’s body in general. Some women just feel discouraged after two or three miscarriages, and they cease to believe that the situation can change.

There has been an experiment which shows that only 60% of women can have their first baby born healthy, without any deviations. In other cases, there happens a miscarriage or any other negative symptoms. Professor James Quinby described the development of the new medication as a huge step forward in the field of medicine. The medication is planned to appear in drugstores in the near future, and any woman will be able to use it. However, before taking the medicine, pregnant women must see their doctor.

According to the statistics, 1/5 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, and 0.5% of pregnancies result in stillbirth. It is believed that women quickly overcome the psychological trauma, followed by the birth of a healthy baby.

However, the scientists have analyzed the data obtained from 13,000 of British women and got to know that 2,800 of those who had had a miscarriage or a stillborn baby, in most cases were worried and experienced depression during the next pregnancy and even after the birth of the baby. A lot of women had been in a depressive state for 3 years after the birth of a healthy infant.

Professor Jean Golding says the study is important for the family members of the women who have lost a child, since they tend to think a woman quickly forgets the problem. The received results show that it is different.

Dr. Emma Robertson Blackmore from Rochester University in the United States adds that the discovery is of great importance for physicians since, assessing the risk of prenatal or postnatal depression among women, they usually do not take into account other risk factors such as family history of depression, stressful life events or lack of social support.

Last week, Lily cancelled an appearance at a charity event held over the weekend. Her spokesperson said she could not take to the stage at the Grey Goose Character & Cocktails Elton John Aids Foundation event as she was suffering from a virus. Meanwhile, it is during the period of ailment that Lily had the miscarriage.

After three months into pregnancy, she did ultrasound and the doctors told her that everything is in order. She was very nervous because she has had a miscarriage before and did not tell anyone about her pregnancy. Just after being sure that everything is all right, Lily shared her happy news. She dreamed of becoming a mother and showed her tummy to everyone. But now, it is a nightmare for her and Sam. It is too early to say when she will be able to cope with this blow, a family friend told the Daily Mail.

UsMagazine quotes her rep saying that Lily Allen and her boyfriend Sam Cooper, owner of a building company, are deeply grieved by the event and expect due respect of their privacy. A source close to the couple confirms that they are “devastated” and that it is “a difficult time for them both”.

It’s the singer’s second miscarriage after losing a child by Chemical Brothers’ Ed Simons early in 2008.

25-year-old Allen considers giving birth to a child to be the “main goal” of her life.

A predominant opinion has it that women who experienced a miscarriage shouldn’t try to conceive again until after some time has passed.

This opinion is backed up by World Health Organization whose guidelines advise a six-month pause at the very least between the miscarriage and the next attempt to conceive. According to them, this pause guarantees a much higher possibility of having a healthy pregnancy.

But there’s a recent study in the British Medical Journal that arrives at the opposite conclusion – women who don’t wait but conceive right after the miscarriage run less risks to have another ectopic pregnancy, a second miscarriage or other unhealthy terminations. Lead researcher Sohinee Bhattacharya maintains that “there are no physiological reasons why you should delay.” In her opinion it is wrong to urge women who had a miscarriage to wait for several months before becoming pregnant again.

The study reports that women who conceive in the first six months after the miscarriage show less predisposition towards a premature delivery, a Caesarean birth or giving birth to a low-weight baby in comparison to women who get pregnant after six month passed.

Bhattacharya further says that the risk is linked with the age factor – so women over 35 are urged to try again without waiting for six months to pass.

But a delay becomes a strong necessity if the miscarriage was aggravated by complications of infectious nature, scientists point out.

Motherhood at 18 is a challenge, but it is even harder to become a mother of many children in this age. When Sian Robbins found out that she was pregnant with triplets, she was devastated at first. She became mom for the first time when she was only 15; while being pregnant with Jaden she wrote her final exams. Sian was not scared when she found out that she was pregnant again, it was the moment when she was told that she was to have triplets that shocked her. Specialists were concerned about her health and warned her immediately that she had a higher risk of miscarriage unless she aborted one child.

Sian says that she knew that she was facing very high risk of miscarriage, but she decided to give her babies equal chances to live. Fortunately, there was no miscarriage and Taylor, Tyler, and Levi were born eleven weeks premature (May 28 instead of August 11). The babies were so small that they had to stay in incubators for some time.

As for now, when the difficulties are over and the triplets are home with their parents, Sian can calmly recall the days they spent at the hospital. The happy mom admits that three babies is surely a lot to deal with, and yet she says that she is happy to have them regardless of the fact that they daily need 24 diapers and 18 bottles of milk. The triplets’ dad, 19-year-old Callum Thomas, is also delighted with his boys. The young couple currently lives in a two-bedroom council house, but they hope that soon they will be given a large and bright house considering that they are a large family now. What do you think, aren’t they a little too young to have such a big family?

I’m so happy, my pregnancy’s out of danger! My blood test shows, there’re no signs of threatened miscarriage! But I’m still recommended to stay at home and lie most of the day, as my symptoms were not good.

What you may be recommended by your doctor is to:

take 400-800 mg folic acid daily,

take 200 mg vitamin E daily,

eat protein rich foods,

eat 5-6 times a day, little portions.

Another recommendation from my doctor is to listen to the music I enjoy and autogenic training. All pregnant women can pretty often experience fear, like “is everything ok with the baby?”. Telling yourself “everything’s going to be ok” is said to help.

Having enough sleep (my favorite recommendation ) goes without saying!

Unfortunately, no sports and fitness are allowed now and I’m usually very active. Hopefully, I will continue training soon. For now I’m only allowed to walk a lot (they say, walking is the best kind of physical activity for pregnant women), which I try to do regularly.

I haven’t written for a few weeks, since I haven’t been well during this time. Unfortunately, what I have is called threatened miscarriage.

The sings of this condition are any kind of bleeding (from bright red to brown), spotting, clots, severe abdominal pain, spasms, lower back pain. So, if you have these symptoms (especially bleeding!), consult your health care specialist immediately!

My doctor also says, toxicosis is also not a good sign. Ideally, you shouldn’t have it at early stages of pregnancy. As for me, I do sometimes feel sick, but this feeling disappears when I eat something (what? – it depends) or drink water or kefir.

As soon as you have any spasms – just lay down and try to relax and breathe with your abs.

I was recommended to lie on the sofa most of the time at home. Fortunately, I can even work this way with my laptop. Otherwise, if your family can’t provide you such conditions, it’s better to go to hospital, if possible, because when the woman with threatening miscarriage is at home, she anyway does all the things around the house from time to time and threatens the life of her baby even more. Besides, for most families it’s not so easy to make the husband do this all.

Fortunately, I don’t have bleeding now, but when I’m standing for a long time – washing the dishes, for instance, – the spasms and even the back pain start again. I’m simply following the recommendations and try to stay calm.
