A Third Child Boards the Bus of Little Big Town
Little Big Town members Karen Fairchild, 42, and Jimi Westbrook, 39, married since 2006, finally got round to giving birth to a child. On March 5, in Nashville, Tenn., their first baby, son named Elijah Dylan Westbrook, saw the light of this world. The boy was born 7 lbs., 14 oz., and almost 20 inches long.
Now Fairchild and Westbrook are delighted not only with one another, but with their new parental roles. Fairchild has a degree in child education from way before she embarked on a music career, and has a natural gift of handling children; she applies the latter to her spouse as well.
“Karen is going to be an incredible mom,” shares Westbrook who learned it through his own experience. “She’s done a great job raising me to become a responsible adult!”
While the new parents are “thrilled and blessed” with the way their life has turned, their fellow bandmates have been with daughters since 2007. Kimberly Schlapman and her husband Stephen were first with Daisy Pearl in July, and Phillip Sweet with Rebecca Arthur followed with Penelopi Jane in December.
“Our hearts are bursting with joy for Karen and Jimi,” says Schlapman. “We have dreamed of this moment with them for a long time. We can’t wait to welcome another little angel onto our bus.”
Yes, it is the touring bus that is the children’s nursery. Elijah Dylan will soon join Daisy Pearl and Penelopi Jane as a regular tour crew member. It won’t be long before the children will be accompanying their Billboard hit-making parents on the road to the Country Throwdown Tour in May, where they will be performing with Jack Ingram, Montgomery Gentry, and Jamey Johnson.
Their single from the eponymous album, “Little White Church”, will hit the radio stations next week.
