Elton John, Hubby and Baby Cover Censored
Hardly had little Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John turned one month old when he became subject to censure as an Arkansas grocery store shielded the US Weekly baby cover depicting Elton John and David Furnish’s Christmas-day born baby. In the American exclusive Zachary was photographed alongside his father Furnish, 48, whose alliance with the famous rock musician lasted for 17 years.
As soon as the picture of the shielded magazine on the rack of the store, Harps, appeared on the Internet, the store became the target of numerous phone calls. By the time CoverAwards got through to the PR rep of the chain (bringing the number of calls over half a hundred mark), he declined to issue any comments on the reasons for the store’s action. They were told that, being bombarded with messages, the PR director was taking voice mails exclusively. CoverAwards further managed to secure a confirmation from a person addressed outside the store that the cover had been shielded, at least for a while – contrary to versions published in the Internet that actually the shield may not have belonged there.
It is reported from the words of a sales associate connected with the Harps store in question that the magazine was indeed shielded in response to several complaints lodged to the store management. The associate called it a “no win situation.”
Angry calls are still being made to the store whose contact details have been made public. And what do you think? Could seeing such pictures be really harmful for our children?
