Kelly Preston Would Babysit for $3 an Hour
Children are the main motif in Kelly Preston’s life. At her 48 years of age actress still believes – just as she did when she was 11 – that motherhood is the most important thing she has ever experienced. Although commercials bring in thousands of dollars, Preston shares that she would rather be babysitting for $3 an hour “because I loved it.”
So she was struck down terribly when a little more than two years ago her son Jett suddenly died of a seizure at age 16. The death (and the following unpleasantness) proved a great burden, and only her religious belief helped her live it down, confessed Preston to Health magazine in an interview for the September issue. She and her husband John Travolta are dedicated Scientologists of long standing, and she thinks it was the Scientology Center that had given her enough strength to carry on.
She came through with the lesson that she should love her children “like it could be the last moment” and let small problems go.
And then the family with the 11-year-old daughter Ella Bleu were graced with a new child, son Benjamin Hunter Kaleo, who entered this world in November 2010. It was the event they had been waiting for years, Preston recounted to the mag. “When I found out I was pregnant, I was floored,” she said, telling how she would get up in the middle of the night and come back to wake Travolta, and they both would cry from sheer happiness.
