Mariah Carey Is Not Ready to Discuss Her Pregnancy Yet

When Mariah Carey, 41, was spotted in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last week, wearing a maternity dress (actually it was a $140 Pea in the Pod Spaghetti Strap Halter) it fueled up the public interest in her pregnancy again. Responding to it, the singer issued a statement last Thursday which, unfortunately, was a bit curt, thanking all her fans but withholding any information.

Carey promises to give the facts to the world when she is ready to, admitting to being “very superstitious” about it.

Her husband Nick Cannon, 29, understands his wife’s attitude. Talking to UsMagazine at Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day tennis event in Flushing, New York, last Sunday, he said he is sure there is a more spiritual side to it than mere superstition. “She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can,” the America’s Got Talent man shares, refusing to let on any private details.

The only thing Cannon told of his wife was that Carey is fine, she is in L.A. deep in work on her new album.

When asked about his own feelings on the matter, the TV host said that, being a big kid himself, he is ready to welcome his child. He loves kids, and was not in any way nonplussed at hearing the suggestion of twins. Cannon took it in his stride: “Nine kids at once. Whatever happens, whatever life God blesses you with, you have to take it and appreciate it.”
