Rupert Everett Is Against Gay Parenting
Back in 1997, actor Rupert Everett confessed to the US Magazine that he was homosexual. However, over the years the star of such films as “Shakespeare in Love” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding” did not become a part of the LGBT community.
Moreover, 53-year-old Everett was constantly criticized by his fellows because of the fact that the actor did not share many of the values of homosexuals, and was not eager to defend them and their civil rights.
The last time Rupert angered other homosexuals was in his interview for Sunday Times Magazine. The actor baffled the enlightened public with his statement that there was nothing worse than gay men, who had children. His mother met his boyfriend, but still wanted him to marry a woman and start a normal family.
She thinks children need a father and a mother and I agree with her, “he said. “I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads
Everett understands that not many gay people will like his words, but the actor is not concerned:
“I’m not speaking on behalf of the gay community. In fact, I don’t feel like I’m part of any ‘community’.”
And as a representative of humanity Rupert is going to protect the planet:
“The only community I belong to is humanity and we’ve got too many children on the planet, so it’s good not to have more.”
No wonder that such statements of the actor immediately provoked a strong reaction among his “comrades”. Thus, one of the movement’s activists Ben Summerskill said Rupert distorted the facts, and he should have looked at things more widely. He attributed this to the fact that there was no evidence that children raised in gay families suffered and were oppressed or improperly developed.
With his words, Summerskill hinted that Everett, who had been brought up in an ordinary family, was not happy in his childhood. The actor repeatedly said their house was organized in a special way because his father was in the military, and many things were a taboo.
Yet, Rupert and his mother continued to stand their ground. 77-year-old Mrs. Everett strongly believes that one day her son will meet his woman, who will guide him to the right path. Alas, it seems that the hopes of the actor’s mother are not destined to come true. Rupert firmly sticks to the chosen position and is not going to follow the example of Sir Elton John, Neil Patrick Harris, Matt Bomer and others.
