What Surprise Did Miranda Kerr Prepare for Her Son’s First Birthday?

Flynn Christopher, Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom’s first child, celebrated his first birthday on January 6 with family members and several friends attending. Five of the guests were Flynn’s friends of the same age, and there were things to enjoy for grown-ups and little ones alike.

The one-year-old’s great surprise was the first ever cake in his life! Kerr, who graced the occasion with her cooking, shared the details with PEOPLE as she debuted as the Qantas airways ambassador. It was an organic cake, gluten-free, she said Thursday, and Flynn, who had never seen one before, started the celebration with putting his face in it.

The happy parents also called in a balloon man to provide balloons – which Flynn adores – in large quantities. There were also activities for the boy’s friends.

The inexperienced baby was able to last for only a couple of hours, added the Victoria’s Secret Angel, 28. Then the boy adjourned for his nap.

It’s new discoveries for Flynn’s parents every day, Kerr said, as he is exploring his abilities and “almost walking,” making his parents proud of him.

Bloom, 35, is always there to play his dad’s part, she added, delighting her with the way he rises to the occasion every time and feeling glad to be a father.
