Square Breakfast Helps Get Pregnant
Israeli scientists believe that a good morning meal improves fertility in women with polycystic ovaries.
Typically, these women have difficulty conceiving. This is due to increased insulin levels and insulin resistance in body tissues stimulating the ovaries to produce male sex hormones, which leads to hormonal imbalance.
Typically, polycystic ovarian is overweight women’s disease, and such therapies are aimed at reducing weight and, consequently, regulation of the insulin level in the blood. However, a professor at Tel Aviv University, Daniel Jacobowitz, drew attention to the fact that among such patients there are quite a lot of women with normal body weight, and such methods are not suitable for them.
Jacobowitz and her colleagues’ previous studies showed that a simple change in the nutrition schedule in accordance with natural daily metabolic cycle results in lower insulin, glucose and triglyceride levels in the blood. This presupposes a high-calorie breakfast rich in protein and carbohydrates, and a steady decline in calories throughout the day, with the minimum for dinner. The authors tested the effect of such diet for patients with polycystic ovaries.
It was found that those having a substantial breakfast, reduced the level of insulin-resistance by 56% and the level of testosteron by 50%. These improvements led to a 50% increase in the ovulation indicators, which resulted in a significant progesterone increase – the corpus luteum hormone.
As pointed out by Professor Jacobowitz, this simple and natural method can help women with PCOS not only to conceive naturally, but also to improve the chances of conception in the case of assisted reproductive technologies.
