How to Stop Hiccup
A hiccup is a short inhale against a closed glottis that is caused by a spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm.

A hiccup is provoked by fast eating (frequent swallowing), overeating, dry food, and drinking carbonated beverages. In many cases, the cause of hiccups is still unknown.
A hiccup is the reason for seeking medical care if:
- it lasts for more than three hours;
 - it is combined with abdominal pain.

Some ways to stop hiccups:
- stick your tongue out and hold your breath;
 - swallow one teaspoon of dry granulated sugar;
 - drink sweet water or icy water (it is more preferable to take sweet water with ice);
 - swallow a small amount of finely chopped ice;
 - suck a slice of lemon;
 - get hold of your tongue with a thumb and forefinger and gently pull it forward;
 - standing on your tiptoes, put your hands behind your head, and drink a glass of cold water with small quick sips (someone should hold the glass for you).
