Omega-3 Fatty Acids Help Children Learn to Read
The experts from the Center for Evidence-Based Medicine, Oxford University (UK), urge parents to adjust the diet of their children, if those have problems with reading.
The scientists say that these problems can be solved by using some types of seafood and seaweeds, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
During the research, which lasted for several months, the children at the age of 7 to 9 years old were given supplements containing omega-3. The overall picture of health and mental performance remained unchanged except for those children, who had some difficulty in mastering books: they demonstrated significant progress in reading. The group of the children, who received placebo instead of the supplements, did not have any similar result. The teachers also confirmed that the pupils, whose diet included fatty acids, had increased their performance.
