Sons Of Smoking Mother May Have Fertility Problems
Human reproduction experts from Britain claim that mothers-to-be who smoke or have excessive weight can harm their son’s fertility in adulthood. Scientists found that a woman’s health during pregnancy have a major impact on the reproductive system of her son. If an expecting mother smokes, this can cause the decline in the sperm production of her son by 40 percent later in life. On the other hand, if a father smokes, the decline is surprisingly at just 10 percent. Among other negative factors for male fertility are mom’s obesity and exposure to pesticides or traffic pollution. Experts say that the combination of these factors can lead to problems with the development of testicles manifesting in poor production of Sertoli cells that play role in spermatogenesis.
