An Average Child Asks 105,000 Questions a Year
Four-year-old girls are the most inquisitive children. They ask 390 questions every day.
When Are Most Questions Asked?
The study, conducted by Littlewoords site in the UK, involved 1000 mothers with children aged 2 to 10 years. It turned out that the most “stressful” time concerning the number of questions asked is in the morning – from 7:19 to 7:59. On an average day, every mother faces a 12.5-hour “brainstorming.” Every 2 minutes 36 seconds, she is forced to think about an answer to another question.
Mothers Have More Answers than Fathers
Sociologists have also found that most children (82%) go to their mother rather than to the father, if they need an answer. A quarter of them (24%) said that they did so because their dad told them to ask their mother. During the period of a year, a child asks about 105,000 questions. Though the number of children’s questions is reduced with age, they become more difficult, so that 82% of mothers are unable to answer them.
Which Are the Most Frequent Questions Children Ask?
The most common questions are: “Why is water wet?”, “Where does the sky end?”, “What are the shadows made of?”, “Why is the sky blue?” and “How do fish breathe underwater?”
