Choosing Right Christmas Gifts for Children
Children often get not quite safe gifts for holidays, for example, bullet shooting toy guns. Over 235,000 toy-related injuries are reported in the US every year. Almost quarter of those injured are children younger than 15 years of age.
Stores are having so huge range of toys that it makes difficult for parents to figure out which toys are safe for their children and which are not. Sports equipment, which is a very popular gift idea, must include safety glasses. It is sports products that cause 40,000 eye injuries every year.
Here are some tips on choosing gifts for children.
- Avoid toys with sharp edges and parts.
- Do not leave children unattended playing with a potentially dangerous toy.
- If you want to buy a piece of sports equipment, make sure you also buy safety glasses (you can consult your eye specialist on it).
- Read recommendations on a toy label to make sure it suits the age and abilities of your child.
- Store the toys of older children separately from the toys of younger children.
- Boughs and needles of the Christmas tree may be dangerous for eyes, so set the tree up with caution.
- Christmas ornaments must hang beyond a child’s reach.
