Parents of Twins More Likely To Divorce

Parents of twins and triplets are more likely to divorce than those with single birth, according to sociologists from the Birmingham University. 28 per cent of parents with twins or triplets split up compared with 24 per cent of those with single births. Why is this?

The reason was obvious – financial troubles. Mothers can’t get back to work soon after births while the family is forced to double its expenses on education, clothes, entertainment, toys and bicycles. Sociologists argue the government should support multiple birth families. Additionally, the parents in such families have to be more careful about each other to minimize the risk of divorce.
