10 Happiness Lessons to Learn from Our Kids
For some people happiness is in mutual love and family hearth, other people will find high salaries, respectful attitude of their colleagues, and a prestigious position to be of utmost importance, while the third will consider personal growth and self-realization most significant. But how can adults feel really happy? Let’s watch our children and learn from them how to reach happiness.
- Ask the question “Why?” more frequently. Inexhaustible curiosity leads to constant development. As stated in the commercial: “Do not let yourself wither”.
- «Be simple, and people will like it”. Children do not pile complex structures around simple notions, as it is frequently done by grown-ups.
- Happiness is in details. Ask the child what happiness is, and he will answer: ice cream, chocolate, a dog or at least a PSP. And when did you last feel the happiness given by such simple things?
- Immediacy. It’s so nice to be natural, to be you in any company without the fear of being misunderstood.
- Live today. Yes, children dream of becoming a chef, an astronaut, an actress (underline the right variant) when they grow up. However, it is such distant future for them, and it is much more important for them to see what happens today, what they are doing today, with whom they are meeting, and where they are going etc.
- Love for nothing. Kids love you not because of your status, welfare or titles – they simply either love you or not.
- Authenticity. Kids are real, they are not playing other people’s roles, they do not wear masks, and they are sincere.
- Boundless imagination. Children are a powerful source of fantasies and dreams. And when did you do this simple and pleasant thing? When did you spend your time dreaming?
- Constant mobility. Children are a perpetual motion machine, always jumping and wheeling all around the flat, and it is very difficult to make them sit on the same place for a long time. And how often do adults get up from their desk chair in the office or their sofa at home?
- Always try something new. Today, they play tennis, yesterday they went to the pool, but tomorrow they will be singing on stage. If you cannot do anything it is not a problem because the world is full of so many interesting things, and one must find time to try and do something new in order to discover something to his/her taste. It is very good if, having become an adult, you do not stop looking for something different because there might be plenty of things you can enjoy.
If at least occasionally you behave and feel like a child, you will for sure live a complete and happy life without missing anything. Isn’t it happiness that should be the goal of one’s life?
