10 Things Our Mothers Never Tell Us
All mothers on both sides of the equator are the best example of selfless, compassionate and faithful love. Maternal feelings exist beyond time and space, they cannot be explained by reason and logic – just because you can understand them only if you are a parent, and nothing else.
Below you will find an article about what our mothers would never tell us. But this does not mean that they have never felt this.
She cried because of you. Often
She was crying when she learned that she was pregnant. She was crying during childbirth. She was crying the first time you hugged her. She cried from happiness. She was crying because she was afraid and worried for you. She feels deeply and shares all the pain and all the happiness of this life with you, even when you are not aware of this.
She still wanted that last piece of the pie
But when she saw you licking your lips, looking at her with those tremendous eyes, she just could not eat it. She knew that she would be much happier watching you eat it with pleasure.
She was hurt
It hurt when you pulled her hair, when you grabbed her with your sharp nails that could not be cut. It hurt when she was breastfeeding you, and you were biting her. You damaged her ribs and stomach when getting out of her womb. And your coming to this world was the result of her excruciating pain.
She is worried about you. Always
Since the moment of conception, she has done everything to protect you. She became the woman who was going to say “no” when a neighbor girl asked to hold you and whose soul squeezed, when that girl still took you in her arms. Her heart skipped two beats, when you made your first steps. She did not close her eyes to make sure you got home safe and woke up before anyone else to take you to school. She was ready to snatch you from the clutch of a bad dream or night heat. She was always nearby to make sure you were okay.
She knows that she is not ideal
Mothers are the worst critics. Your mom knows all her flaws and sometimes hates herself for them. But the most difficult thing is when it comes to you. She wanted to be a perfect mother and to do everything right – but she is a human being and therefore is capable of making mistakes. I guess she’s still trying to forgive herself for those mistakes. With all her heart, she wants to go back and do things differently, but it’s impossible. So be kind to your mother and know that she has done the best of what is possible.
She watches you while you sleep
There were nights when she prayed for you to finally fall asleep, sitting beside your crib at 3:00. She sang a lullaby to you, even though she could barely keep her eyes open. And when you finally fell asleep, she was lying next to you, and all her drowsiness disappeared at the very moment when she looked at your face and experienced unconditional love, which is not afraid of pain and fatigue.
She was carrying you much longer than 9 months
You needed her. Therefore, no other options were left. She learned to hold you while cleaning the apartment, while eating at snatches and even when asleep. Her hands were tired, and her back ached unbearably, but she was holding you because you wanted to be closer to her. She cuddled you, kissing and playing with you. You felt safe in her hands, and you were happy, so she was carrying you in her hands as often as you wanted.
Every time you cried, her heart ached
For mothers, there is nothing worse than hearing a baby cry and seeing the tears run down the naive baby face. She did everything possible to stop your tears, and when that did not work, her heart was broken into a million little pieces.
You have always been her top priority
She could live without food, shower or sleep. She always put your needs higher than her own needs. She spent the whole day with you, so she did not have any energy left for herself in the evening. But the next day she woke up even earlier and did it all again because you meant to her more than anything else.
She would go through this again
Being a mom is the most difficult job that one can imagine in this world. You cry, you feel hurt, you do your best and fail, you learn and exceed your own abilities. But you also feel so much joy and love that it seems your heart can barely accommodate these emotions. Despite all the pain, suffering and sleepless nights that your mom has had, she will be pleased to experience it all over again because it’s worthy of such sacrifice. So next time you see your mom, just tell her thank you. Let her know that you love her. After all, she does not have to hear it often.
