As proved by British researchers from the University of Southampton, the children who grow up confident almost from the cradle get sick much less afterwards and much more rarely have weight problems. This conclusion was made after the scientists examined how a person’s health depended on his/her perception of own abilities.

After pre-selecting 7500 British people, the scientists started watching them since childhood. Physicians have found an interesting trend: people who were confident at the age of 10, had almost no excess weight problems up to 30. Moreover, these self-confident people were less exposed to stressful situations and felt better than others did. It is significant that the researchers took into account such tangible health factors as the level of IQ, education and family income – however, the result did not change. Self-confidence helped people stay healthy and lead a life that further strengthened health.

According to the scientists, self-confidence comes from childhood and forms in the course of a person’s communication with parents. Not surprisingly, the researchers made recommendations to parents to develop confidence in their children – because it makes their health in adulthood significantly stronger.
