Fish and Nuts Protect Children from Allergy

The researchers have found that omega-3 fatty acids, which are contained in salmon, mackerel, tuna, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and flax seeds, force the gastrointestinal tract develop in such a way as to activate the immune system.

Salmon to protect children from allergy

The scientists from the National French Agricultural Research Institute have discovered that when expectant mothers consume a certain group of polyunsaturated fatty acids, the intestinal walls of their children become more permeable. This allows a greater number of substances and bacteria pass into the bloodstream, causing the immune system to produce antibodies.

Dr. Gael Boudry believes that due to this impact the children’s immune system can develop and mature faster. As a result, the child gets sick less often.
