Female Infertility Forms: Genetic, Immune, Uterine

These are serious defects in development: bicornuate uterus, inflammation, benign tumors (myomas, fibroids, fibromas and polyps) and tumor formations (cysts). The state of the uterus is usually determined by ultrasound examination conducted at the beginning, middle and end of the cycle, as well as diagnostic laparoscopy.

Sterility As the Consequence of Endometriosis

Infertility can be caused by endometriosis, a disease which is characterized by the development of the cells, similar to those of the inner layer of the uterus – the endometrium, and located in the walls of the uterus. With each year, this pathology is getting increasingly common, and is observed even in very young girls. A characteristic symptom of endometriosis is acyclic heavy bleeding. Sometimes endometriosis occurs without any symptoms and is diagnosed only when women complain to the doctor about not being able to conceive a baby.

Endometriosis Symptoms

Note that in some cases endometriosis can be mistakenly diagnosed as gynecological and non-gynecological diseases: osteochondrosis of the lumbar section of the spine, chronic inflammation of the appendages, the problems of the gastrointestinal tract.

Diagnosing Endometriosis

An ordinary examination by a gynecologist will not help to diagnose endometriosis. An ultrasound examination of the pelvis must be conducted to identify specific signs of the disease. Sometimes it is possible to identify certain blood markers, indicating the presence of endometriosis.

Immune Infertility Symptoms & Information

As proved by all other data, the so-called antisperm antibodies can be sometimes formed in the genital tract of healthy women. They are the immune system’s response to the sperm. When the woman’s body is introduced with the sperm, it starts treating men’s sperm cells as alien cells, trying to block them by reducing their speed and vitality. This is called immune, or autoimmune, infertility. The process of developing sperm antibodies increases in case of inflammatory diseases of the cervix.

Genetic Factors of Infertility

It happens that infertility is caused by genetic factors. The most common genetic cause of infertility in women is called numerical and structural chromosome aberrations, or the so-called syndrome of fragile X-chromosome. It should be noted that female infertility is less often caused by genetic factors, unlike male infertility.

Emotional Infertility

Besides, there are mental causes of infertility. In this case, the experts call it psychogenic infertility. We have already discussed emotional infertility.
