9-Year-Old Girl Gives Birth in Mexico

A nine-year-old Mexican girl from the city of Zapopan has given birth to a baby. She gave birth on January 27 via caesarean section. The newborn girl weighed 2.7 kilograms (almost 6 lbs) and had the height of 50 centimeters. Both girls – the mother and the baby – are at home now, and the doctors and psychologists are looking after them. An alleged father is 17 years old, and he is on the run, fleeing from the police.

According to the state prosecutor Jorge Villasenor, they are now looking for the young man because the girl does not know what happened to her. He told the reporters the case could be possibly classified as rape.

This is not the first amazing case of early motherhood. For example, in 2010, a ten-year-old Romanian girl gave birth to a child in the south of Spain. Last year, a ten-year-old Columbian Indian from the tribe of Vayu gave birth to a daughter.
