Being Mother Entails Doing 23 Jobs

Researchers inform that the average mother’s routine work comprises duties of 23 professions from all walks of life.

Being mother

A study commissioned by Chessington World of Adventures and encompassing 2,500 moms reports that on the average the woman of the family works over 13 hours every day the children stay home from school, starting soon after 7am and being able to breathe out in relief at about 9pm.

Every day a modern mother works as a 1. cleaner, 2. chef, 3. teacher, 4. caregiver, 5. chamber maid and 6. waitress. Now and then she is called upon to do the work of a 7. first-aider (luckily not a life-saver), 8. counselor, 9. dental hygienist and 10. security guard.

Some of the professional tasks can be fairly enjoyable, and it is pleasant to think that mothers may delight in working as an 11. artist, 12. interior designer or 13. travel agent.

With so many jobs (and as often as not simultaneously) the list of mothers’ professions should be topped by those of 14. administrator and 15. project manager.

Other professions mastered by the average mother include:
16. entertainer;
17. driver;
18. event organizer;
19. accountant;
20. gardener;
21. shopper;
22. hairdresser;
23. dog walker.

It’s small wonder that moms’ life was referred to in Chessington World of Adventures’ comment as juggling. “They have to turn their hand to everything – from ferrying the kids around or booking the holiday, to keeping them occupied with a painting brush or making the bed,” the spokesman pointed out.
