Children Do Better in School if Not Afraid of Parents’ Critics

The French researchers claim that the parents, who have managed to explain to their child that mistakes and, consequently, bad grades, are a part of training, can achieve better academic performance of their offspring.

The scientists from the University of Poitiers are sure that if parents and teachers help children to treat their mistakes and difficulties normally, the child’s working memory, that is required for processing and storing information as well as for further education, will begin to function better.

Psychologists say that difficulties usually make people nervous. As a result, the fear of making a mistake interferes with the working memory.

The experts stress that one needs only a little self-esteem and confidence to enhance the working memory of the child in general.
