Eyebrow Waxing for a 3-Year-Old Girl

The former Teen Mom decided to doll up her little girl way before she is due for it in dermatologists’ opinion – and thinks she is right about it.

20-year-old Farrah Abraham is always happy to play with her 3-year-old daughter Sophia, but this time she may have gone it a bit too far. On Tuesday she posted in her blog that she had waxed Sophia’s eyebrows – a post that let her in for some disparaging remarks on the soundness of her parental care. Yet the MTV teen mom declared to ABC News that she was perfectly right to do that.

In her interview on Good Morning America on Wednesday Abraham said she had received a lot of comments on unibrows, setting her thinking that she may have overstepped the line.

According to her, little Sophie “freaked out” when she applied some wax on the girl’s eyebrows. Mom ceased to dab her, but when the girl fell asleep, she set to work on her eyebrows with the tweezers.

ABC News approached experts who said that plucking is not recommended before the child turns 7, but it didn’t cut any ice with the Teen Mom star who is standing her ground. She said she was helping her daughter which is always the right thing to do.

Later on Tuesday she voiced her opinion on it via Twitter, writing that “unibrows are not sacred” and tweezing can be done at any age. She came back on Wednesday to say that her daughter looks good “with unibrow or without,” adding that it’s the child’s hygiene that is important.

Abraham’s preoccupation with her appearance has drawn criticism to her before. She underwent two plastic surgeries in two years, boosting her breasts to a C cup in 2011 and getting rhinoplasty and chin implant (setting her back $16,000) last year. But cosmetic surgery is one thing, and applying tweezers to eyebrows is another, she pointed out in her interview.
