Parenting A Child As A Teenager

A teenager with an unwanted pregnancy is often faced with a difficult decision. They can either give birth and become parents or they can choose to terminate their pregnancy. For many teens, the thought of becoming a parent is scary and overwhelming at first, but once they have accepted this new responsibility they are able to enjoy so many benefits that come along with parenting.

Many people have a misconception that if a pregnant teenager decides to give birth, they will be unable to pursue an education and career. This is not the case. A teen can go on to live the life they want as well as raise their child with proper support from family, friends, and other community programs.

For many teens who are faced with an unwanted pregnancy, giving birth can ultimately lead them down a path of success.

Teenagers with an unwanted pregnancy are often faced with the decision to terminate their unborn baby or give birth. With a proper support system, teenagers can raise a child and pursue education and career goals.

  • Adolescents who become parents have higher rates of graduation from high school than other adolescents.
  • Young mothers that continue to support a child after birth often have a higher education level than the average woman.

Data show that children born to teenage mothers fare well in terms of intelligence and social skills, but they are more likely to experience health problems like asthma or obesity. A teen mother can go on to live her life as she wants with proper support from family, friends, and other community programs for many teens who are faced with an unwanted pregnancy giving birth ultimately leads them down a path of success. Single teen mothers do indeed have a great track record of being productive achieving goals and supporting their child.

It is not uncommon for a single mom to complete their high school education and go on to pursue post-secondary education. The number of successful teenage parents directly correlates with the support systems that are available to them. Government programs, churches, and family members are just a few of the resources that can be utilized by teenage mothers.

Family planning programs should focus on reproductive rights and education for all, regardless of age or marital status. Family members, friends, religious organizations, schools, and other community agencies need to support these new parents with parenting classes, advice from people who have been in their shoes before them as well as any financial help necessary such as infant clothing or food subsidies. The government has an obligation not only to provide family planning information but also parenting skills so this does become a cycle where young women feel like they cannot have children until their late twenties around when most teen girls enter college or start careers.

Government programs for single teenage mothers need to be increased

In order to get out of poverty, single teenage mothers need access to government programs that will provide them with childcare and other supports necessary for the mother’s success in school or careers such as subsidized daycare, transportation vouchers, WIC benefits, and more. These parenting skills should also include help from social workers who can offer guidance on how these parents can better care for themselves so they are not overwhelmed by stress which is what often leads many teen mothers into depression or substance abuse problems.

The myth needs to be dispelled that raising a child alone means you cannot have a career while doing this.

The world has changed drastically over time and there are now numerous examples of children being raised by single moms without two parents to help.

It is really difficult for any teen parent to do this alone but there are organizations like “Teen Parent Services” out there willing to help these mothers find ways around the barriers so they can be successful at both parenting and getting an education. These programs offer resources such as transportation vouchers, daycare subsidies, WIC benefits and in some instances tutoring services. Programs like these provide support and resources to allow the teen mom to do both, and it has had a hugely positive effect on some of these mothers.

It’s not enough just for women who are pregnant with an unwanted pregnancy to have access to support services such as adoption or abortion but also during their parenting years they should be provided assistance in order so that they can keep up with pursuing education goals while raising children.
